(HARTFORD, Conn.) — Jazz composer and pianist Dave Brubeck, whose pioneering style in pieces such as “Take Five” caught listeners’ ears with exotic, challenging rhythms, has died. He was 91.

Here is clearly his most famous composition.

Sad to hear this. He was one of my all time favorites. His music and listening to Paul Desmond play the sax was the reason I got involved in music many, many years ago.

A true jazz legend.

RIP. Great, great musician. I found him when I was in high school and loved jazz for the first time. I always got a kick out of Joe Morello's laugh at the end of "Unsquare Dance."

DBQ was why I fell in love with jazz at an early age. Joe Morello was
a strong influence when I started playing drums. I never saw them live, but watched them on the Steve Allen show. Mesmerizing !

When my wife and I first met we quickly found that we both loved jazz... the rest is history.

I was a late convert to his talents - I didn't become acquainted with his music until 1962. I've been a devoted fan ever since. Farewell and God bless!
