So a couple months ago Andrewjs18, who I know outside of the shaving world, started telling me about the benefits of shaving using vintage methods -- better shave overall, less skin irritation, etc, not that I have to tell you all of the many benefits.

After much reading and discussion with Andrew, who was nice enough to give me a brush, mug, and some sample cream, I decided to go through the storage of some of my relatives who are no longer with us, in search of a vintage razor to use.

With all of my items, and newly collected knowledge, I proceeded with my first lather:

I realize I had too much water as it was a bit bubbly, but it was my first shot at it. (Subsequent lathers have been much smoother.)

With my first lather created, I grabbed my newly acquired vintage razor and began shaving:

Starting out I knew that shaving with vintage gear was going to be a learning process, but I have to say, the result was way better than the last multi-blade disposable razor I used!

Over the last few weeks the shaves have become less prone to bleeding, primarily due to my newly formed calluses. I intend to try straight razor shaving next!

(This post is intended to be humor. The lather picture is actually my first lather and the vintage razor is actually one I found with my uncle's WW2 stuff. I did not actually use this razor. The sink pictured was one I found on google images. I have been shaving with a variety of razors. I have in excess of 10 at this point, mostly double edge. I've actually not had any major nicks so far and the entire shaving process has gone rather well!)
