I've tried bbcode & HTML code for tables but can't get them to show properly. Can anyone link me to a description of how to make a table with the cells all outlined for easy reading & separation?

Thanks

Do you mean, using Html?
Tables shouldn't be used anymore, it is adviced to use CSS for tabular data.

I'm not familiar with CSS. I'll have to look into that. Can you point me in a direction to start? Thanks!

Ah, maybe you mean here, writing a post in the forum?
You could use the code tag (click the # on top of the editor). It will use a non proportional font so that the output is nicely aligned. For example:

Code:
a b  c  d e  f
a bb cc d ee ff

Not quite, I'd like to make a table with cells, rows, & columns. The code example won't keep things aligned & easily separated in columns. But yes, for use here in a forum post.

But to align the text in columns you have to use spaces... Not the smartest thing in the world but it works.

There is no CSS or HTML tables used on bb software like this. Pipe delimiters are used on many boards, it's also has to be enabled before using it. I am not familiar with this software, so can't say. We have to wait for Andrew to speak.

It's sounding like a spreadsheet turned into a jpg & inserted as a picture is the way to go then.

Yeah, I figured it wouldn't be the best way. Currently though, until I look into CSS, I don't know of another way to do it.

Try this, open your favourite text exitor (notepad, word, wordpad, whatever) and set a non proportional font like "Courier New". Then format your tabular data using spaces to separate the columns and copy/paste the text into a "code" block here.

Otherwise, if you don't need to keep the text as text you could take a snapshop of the tabular data in your favourite spreadsheet (google docs, excel, openoffice, etc.). Like this:

most forums allow html in posts if it's enabled in the admin cp.

</tr>
<tr>
<td>row 2, cell 1</td>
<td>row 2, cell 2</td>

<th>Header 1</th>
<th>Header 2</th>
</tr>
<tr>

<td>row 1, cell 2</td>
</tr>
<tr>

<td>row 2, cell 2</td>
</tr>
</table>
