I was taking some pics to senD them Johnny's way , but I also decide that I will share them here too.

This is the vintage 1550 Semogue , which came with a resin handle and in two colors : light and dark green.

Its a very well regarded brush among Semogue lovers , due to the handle and the boar hair used , which is the old 90% premium tops (I think) , with even extra soft tips.

This brush has a knot of 22 mm , 50 mm loft , and 50 mm handle height , perfect measures for the kind of brushes I like to face lather.I don't use it as often as I should , since this brush is not longer available (since 2008) and I feel like its a "relic" to me.The artisan who made these handles retired , and sadly , nobody did take his spot on his small business.

I do notice some differences with the 90% tops premium boar used from 2008 , 2009 and 2010 in several Semogue brushes. The 2008 nice is extra soft on the tips , but has better backbone , the 2009 , has very soft tips but the backbone is not as strong as the 2008 or 2010 , and the 2010 , has extra soft tips too but a lot of flow, more than any other Semogue brush I own.

As I said , the brush is not longer in production (the 1550 was relaced for a period of time for a wooden handle 1305/1800/1250 style and the hair used in the 1520/620 models) but , once in a while , one pop up in old Portuguese drugstores.I was lucky enough to get one and I hope my friend Johnny will be too.

That is a beautiful handle. I wish Semogue would bring more acrylics to their line

The handle looks amazing. I would gladly add this brush to my collection if I could. I've seen this brush on Vintage Scent, but it has always been listed as "sold out." It looks like Bruno lists the 1550 with Extra 75% tops. Did some of the 1550s come with the 75% tops?

I've always loved looking at this brush in past SOTD photos of yours. Maybe down the road I'll be lucky enough to snag one.

It seems some came with the 75% tops and others with the 90% premium tops.Mine is clearly 90% premium tops. However , I have the 1550 wooden handle version and that one has the 75% tops.
