All you shave stick experts out there, how would you compare the LaToja shave stick to the others, especially VALOBRA and Speick.

It's nice gives a good shave. Is a harder stick then Valobra on par with Speick. I prefer the less expensive tallow sticks,,,Wilkinson, Palmolive and Arko

Are you asking me , Johnny ? Rolleyes

La Toja is simply the best stick out there.OK , it is not , but one of the best ones. I'm partial to it since it was one of the 1st sticks I used when I started wet shaving with soap/cream and brush , back in 1996.

La Toja , Wilkinson , Valobra , Palmolive , Speick (but in this case , I prefer the cream) , Arko , Erasmic with tallow , LEA with tallow and lanolin , the sadly discontinued Irisch Moos , Tabac ... are all excellent shaving sticks. Arko has a difficult scent to tolerate for some (including me) but the rest has nice ones , specially La Toja.

How about the Musgo Real Stick - anyone still own that rare shaving stick Smile

I think I once saw a YouTube video with a guy shaving with that MR stick, forgot who it was.......could it be Teiste or another from Foro Afeitado......

I have only used the Speick and Arko sticks, and I got a little bit dry skin from using them - but nice shaves none the less Cool

For me, La Toja is one of the best shaving sticks out-there. As always, YMMV, but performance-wise, I find it better than Speick and a little bellow Valobra. Scentwise, it is the best of the three Biggrin

The guy was Teiste, yes. The Musgo Real vintage stick was a rare find, since a member of the Portuguese forum barbearclassico found a good stash of them in an old drug-store. I'm a happy owner of it, and so is Teiste.

You can read all about the Musgo Real vintage shave stick here: http://shavenook.com/thread-musgo-real-shaving-stick

Nah, Valobra is better but La Toja is definitely in top along with Speick.

La Toja certainly has a great scent and lather. To me, maybe not the best but right up there with Wilkinson, Arko, Speick, and Tabac, or even Irisch Moos.

La Toja is the best stick in my opinion. I've owned them all and while Valobra, Speick, Palmolive, Arko, Wilkinson, etc can come close La Toja still wins by a good margin.

I was absolutely shocked at the quality of lather I got from LaToja. I never expected that from a non tallow soap.

It's the only non tallow I use now and it's right up there with my other tallow versions. I really like the scent too.

I'm not really fond of food based scents in soaps and this one just smells like the ocean to me.

I know this is my penalty to pay Biggrin , but La Toja contains tallow : the sodium and potassium sterate comes from tallow. That was said by the Henkel (La Toja company) ladies who called me last summer. So is a tallow based soap , even when tallow is not on the ingredients list.

Have you ever smelled Musgo Real After Shave? Kind of like that only maybe a little milder.
