Hi, I wanted to share with you my thoughts on the Rooney Victorian (Super Badger), a brush that I used in the last couple of weeks. I found this brush in Fortnum&Mason in London, which was a pleasant surprise since it is rare to see Rooneys in Europe.

The brush gave great feedback both in bowl and face lathering. I think that the long handle helps lathering fast in bowl, but most importantly gives a very pleasant sensation when working on the face (especially when face lathering). The hair is very thin, but the brush still has a good backbone. Build quality is good, it lost a total of a dozen hairs in the first 2-3 uses, then stopped shedding.

I bought the brush based on its aesthetics and was quite curious to see it in action. I must say that I was quite surprised by its excellent performance, definitely one of the best I ever tried. I took some pictures, I hope you like them.

Nice brush. I've always liked that handle design. Wish I could find one stuffed with good boar.

That's a very good looking brush. Congratulations. I've enjoyed all the Rooneys that I've had.

Thank you Teiste&co, I was indeed curious to try the handle (it is circa 730mm, plus around 500mm loft), never had such a long one. I must say that actually the handle makes the brush easier to use. It allows lathering faster and it is very pleasant when massaging the face (my theory is that the longer handle allows more pressure control). In addition, it leaves the hands clean of soap (the soap on the hands did not bother me, but it may be an issue for some). Overall, my surprise is indeed how user-friendly the brush is.

Re the hair, I have a couple of Rooney best and a M&F 2-band, all quite good, I would say that this Super 3-band is the most balanced: good backbone (slightly less than the 2-band, slightly more than the best) and very soft (more than the 2-band and the best of course). It performed well with all kinds of soap and both in bowl and face lathering (face lathering is actually particularly pleasant with this brush)

Great brush. I have had a couple of M&F Victorians and they make fine bowl latherers indeed!
