Well, Chicago's late starting winter apparently hits tonight. While we're not going to be blanketed in snow like areas around us, it is currently pouring and has been for several hours. After the rains end, a cold front comes in and it should get down into the 20s around here. Yeah, several inches of rain and then a hard hard freeze. Should make for fun driving tonight.

On the bright side, Wisconsin (Madison area poor Johnny) is getting 12+ inches of snow while my area is expecting a measly inch or so. Now to go pick up the yard (dog "stuff") in the pouring rain as I don't want to deal with it after the freeze.

Hi Doug

Stay warm and safe Cheers

This morning when I walked Alpha son to the school bus stop it was 54°F (12°C) and windy, it's now 21°F (-6°C), windy and snowing...

Take care, Mike

Doug, be safe. I know first hand how brutal winters in Chicago can be. Spent entire lifetime in the northern suburbs. Eight years ago I went south, now call Arkansas home.

It was cold last night. I had to wear a sweater to bed. Even had a freeze warning. Cool

Puts things into perspective...I guess I should stop complaining about it being in the 40's here.

Doug, stay safe. I, too, know how brutal East Coast and Midwest snowstorms can be having lived in both Brooklyn and Toledo.

I am spending a week visiting a friend in Buffalo next month and when I spoke to him last night he said they got their first snow of the winter. He lives in the northeastern suburbs outside of the city and he said it was only about a three inch accumulation. However, he told me that just south of Buffalo they got hit with about eleven inches from the same storm. Oh joy. [Image: crying.gif]

It just fell from the mid 70's to mid 50's today. It will be back up on Saturday. Winters in New Orleans.. When we do get snow (usually once every 3-5 years) it's only a dusting and the city slows to a crawl...lol. Hate it for you guys up there. Be careful.

Full blown blizzard here in Iowa.

Driving home last knight was pretty challenging. Snow-slush building up on the roads, heavy snow blowing into the windshield. Pretty tense 23 miles.

Last night, 10+ inches of snow, 40mph winds. I stayed home from work today. Dept of Transportation says stay off the roads.

Man, they're right. One person died in an accident.

Yes sir, I was in that 12" in Madison last night and it was snowing when I left this morning to come home. The two hour drive home took seven hours.

I'm getting to old for this stuff.

Be safe on the ice Doug. Would not wish an ice storm on anyone, except maybe my ex-wife. Biggrin

Yup, Winter has decided to visit NE Wisconsin. Snowblower broke and it's still snowing and blowing. A good night for some hot cocoa and a good book.

You read my mind Pam. Drinking a nice cup of hot cocoa right now and just started a nice little fire in the fireplace. The book will come later on.

I spent 36 years in central IL and then 3 in Chicago area. I had to move south.
I don't regret that move one bit. Even when it is 100* down here. Sitting outside having a cigar as I type.

Well, it's cold today, but nothing on the ground here. What little there was when I got up has quickly melted in the sunshine.
