I've been meaning to stop into the local Sally whatever it's called to check out their shaving items. Shave soaps/creams only, is there anything good there? I'm not curious to try mediocre stuff, just things that you'd go back to buy more of.

It seems I need to check out the local Bath and Body also to see if they have the other "proraso" (COB) creams.

When I went to my local Sally I didn't see any shaving soap or cream besides the liquid stuff for hot lather machines.

There was no cream or soap at the Sally's I went into. They did have Barbacide, Master's Bay Rum and Pinaud Clubman and Talc. Those were the only items I saw that I would be interested in. I do remember a cheap no name shave brush but it probably wouldn't hold a candle to anything any of us use. Check out Sally's Beauty Supplies website and you will see what they carry, just note that not all stores carry all products and you will have to dig through the 99.9% of stuff that you probably have no use for to find what you want.

The shave brush is a Marvy. It's horrible. You could scrape paint with it when it's wet. The handle looks like something out of a gumball machine.

They have Master Bay Rum...and some chinese DE razors. Personna blades and thats it where I live.

not much where I am at either. Some Pinaud and other bay rum. Haven't seen any creams or soaps. I don't think I have seen any blades either.

The Master Bay Rum isn't as good as Kramperts but it's quite good. I'd rate it below Captains Choice and Kramperts. It's still a decent aftershave though.

That was my first brush. Yes, it actually is legitimately that bad. Sad

I went into a different Sally Beauty Supply yesterday to buy my wife and older daughter some stocking stuffers and decided to do a little more thorough investigation. They had Marvy shave brushes, Pinaud Clubman a/s and talc, Master Bay Rum, three different hare shapers that may or may not work as shavettes, Personna and Feather hair shaper blades and Personna and Derby double edge blades. That is about it for specific traditional shaving products unless you include the Barbicide jar and solution and towels.

At my Sally Beauty they have a nice assortment of Thayers, and they also have Palmolive SC, Clubman, and some German Nivea products as well. I buy KMF unscented that I use to wash old brushes I get from antiques and ebay. It's good and cheap and takes out the funk of decades gone by. Once i also found a T&H Luxury soap refill too.
