Picked this up at Shaveabuck.

It comes in 2 scents that I know of: Lavender and Cool Mint. I chose the lavender.

Performance:
Shaved with it tonight and I loaded the brush for about 10 seconds. It provided ample lather for the first pass. However, It was scarce on the second pass. I had to go back to the bowl to load the brush. I suspect if I load the brush for 30 seconds or so this won't be a problem. This means that I'll be going through this jar faster than I originally thought because Fume has the consistency of a soft Italian croap. I liken it to Razorock. The lather provided decent slickness and ok cushion. It's not on par with MWF or Mikes, but very doable.

Scent:
The scent is Lavender. Having said that it does smell very artificial, but I wasn't expecting any more than that. It is pleasant but I could tell it was cheaply perfumed. No big deal for me. It reminded me of Weleda cream.

Value:
Ok, first let me say this soap is very inexpensive. I say this because it was around $7 with free shipping at Shaveabuck (good deal!). It's somewhere around $4 at Bestshave (Shipping extra). What I didn't realize is that the tub it comes in is a whopping 300 grams. That's a little over 10 1/2 ounces!

Would I recommend this soap? Yes. This is a budget soap that seems to punch above it's price point. While it is not outstanding compared to a lot of soaps out there it is very nice. It is certainly much, MUCH better than any canned goo I've found and much more economical. Another good shaving product from Turkey.

I've only used it once, but as always, YMMV. I haven't really dialed it in yet but so far so good. I think I can get it to perform better if I practice.

I hope this helps someone and if you have an opinion or view about this soap I'd love to hear it.

(Up tomorrow LEA tallow/lanolin shave stick)

I used this soap but had to PIF it. I loved the performance and scent, and got great lather out of it, but it burned the hell out of my face.

I'm sorry to have to report this.....but I shaved with it again a few hours later.

My face also started to burn. I felt a little tingle the first time I used it but I attributed it to an old blade. This time I used a known brush, new blade with a known razor.

This makes me soooo sad as I like this soap. But, it burns.
I tested to make sure by bowl lathering and not face lathering. I let it sit on my face for a minute without shaving and, yep, burning.

Dang it!

So, it looks like I'm with you, 5Savages.

Do you think the Cool Mint is worth getting or do you figure it will burn too?

I have no idea, but I'm not planning on trying it out.

Soaps that have burned me up include Fume Lavender, Mama Bears (three or four different scents, all burned...I'm done with MB soaps) and TOBS Sandalwood.

How weird is this. Me too.

Exact same soaps:

Fume Lavander
Mama Bears (4 scents...also done with them)
TOBS Sandlewood cream

but also:

Ogallala Bay Rum. That one made my face feel like liquid hot lava had been poured on my face. Remember Raiders of the lost Ark when they opened the Ark?

Remember Poltergeist when the guy peels his face off while looking in the mirror?

(real Poltergeist scene too graphic so I substituted this :-) .)

I tried the Ogalalla aftershave with similar results, so I never even tried the soap.

I think it's awesome. I find the scent very nice and RELAXING, it lathers beautifully, and it gives very good blade glide and skincare. I'll be using it this week.

I have the cool mint and think it's wonerful. I wouldn't try the Lavender just because it is perfumed not essence, and I have also been burned by soaps with perfumed Lavender. YMMV, but I like the Cool version.

So, the cool mint is scented with EO and the Lavander with FO?

So, it's possible that I could use the Cool mint and not have a reaction?

I was told that the Cool version has no menthol effect! Laughing1

Well, yeah, it says that right on the site. Not like there is any deception there.

I think I still might try it out because I'm in deep on a SSAD right now.

I ordered and tried the cool. Unfortunately it burns too. Oh well, sometimes you can't just "cheap out".

I noticed that the price at shaveabuck has dropped to $1.75 too!

It smells like Tide laundry deterget, by the way. Performance was great....it just burns.

For me it's more of a tingle vs a burn. Ill keep using it but I wouldn't order again. The scent isn't my favorite. It sure is cheap though.

Yeah, but Ogallala is supposed to burn like the fires of Hades. That's one of its selling points.

I just shaved with the Fume Lavander this morning, and it gave me a great burn-free shave. It really is a case of YMMV. Smile

It´s not a first magnitude soap, but it works well, at least in a facelather method.
