I am wondering what soaps, if any, that you have had a reaction to. This way people reading this thread who have sensitive skin or who are just prone to reacting to soaps will have an idea.

I'll start:

TOBS Sandlewood cream

Mama Bears (Dragon's Blood, Barbershop, British Leather, Bay Rhum)

Fume Lavander

Ogallala Bay Rum (really bad and instantaneous)

How about you?

Good point about the creams. I've updated the title.

I have an Erasmic stick on the way, so I guess I'll get to see about that first hand.

I've had my eye on trying TOBS Rose cream for a while now. I wanted to try it ever since I tried a sample of Trumper's Rose cream, but wanted cheaper.

I guess I'll just stick with Trumper if I get a rose cream because that sample didn't burn me.

Thanks, Bullgoose!

I got slightly reddened skin whenever I tried TOBS Rose cream, but I had a very strong reaction to a La Toja shave stick: very red skin, a burning sensation, and small bumps which covered my face and neck. All this lasted nearly a week. Maybe it was just that particular stick, but I'll never know, because I'm never touching another one!

TOBS Rose screwed my face up. It was part of my initial wet shaving kit I got from my dad though and I didn't realize at first it was the Rose Cream that was the culprit. That's the only product that has burned me.

RazoRock XXX (this became usuable after airing out the puck for 2 months)
Mama Bear's Ye Olde Barbershoppe
Mama Bear's Spellbound Woods
Prairie Creations T&L Alpine Snowdrift

The Jabonman Tangerine and Vetiver sample I tried lightly burned my face but quit once I finished shaving. It's worth the slight burn..the stuff smells absolutely amazing.

-Every Truefitt & Hill cream including the sensitive skin cream.
-RazoRock Zi Peppino
-DR Harris Marlborough and Arlington shave soaps.

I also had a pretty bad reaction to Spieck ASB.

I'm pretty much positive the irritation is from the soaps/creams but I can't rule out things like dry skin (given it's the winter months) or the possibility of using a faulty/bad blade.

Fragrance oils seem to burn me. Essential oils don't. I try to keep this in mind when purchasing.

Prairie Creations - Honeysuckle

XXX when new, but not at all after aging.

Me too...I almost forgot about the La Toja shave soap. The theory is it was the mineral salts.

regularfella, we have had some similar experiences. My list includes:

TOBS Sandalwood Soap
Mama Bears (Autumn Lodge, Hydrogen, brazilian coffee, acqua di Gio...every one I've tried)
Fume Lavender

I also have some OBRCo soap, but I can't recall if that burned or not. I was just starting out when I bought that and at that time I put up with a lot of burning, thinking it was razor burn and not soap burn.

ETA: I just saw your post in the Fume thread, saying pretty much the same thing Smile

Edwin Jagger Sea Buckthorn cream. Nice cream, not quite a burn but I always felt like my face was on the very edge of tolerating it. My skin felt uncomfortable when I used it, I thought it was only a matter of time before I actually had a reaction to it. Nice scent though. Also, DR Harris Lavender cream (old formulation), used it years ago and thought my face had caught fire.
