I was wanting to stock up on a few hundred Supermax Super Platinum blades and except for a few vendors with individual tucks for sale, the flats of 100 seem to have disappeared. Does anyone have the scoop on this blade? Are they dwindling down to short supply? Have they been discontinued? (please say no!!) Or is it maybe just a supply line disruption? Don't know if I can live without this blade when I run out (sob). Won't some kind vendor locate a source for these if they are still in production?

I hope nothing has happened to this blade. It's a great value for the money. A little while back I ordered 100 but it was several months ago.

Here is a flat of 100 as a BIN on e-Bay. 10 or more available.

Yes I did see that Ebay listing but it also says 10 available / 10 sold so not sure if another BIN would go through. I used to just order from Best-shave or Razorblades and More but but both have been OOS (for the flats) for quite a while.

That just means they started out with 20 available and have sold half.

On sale now!

Thanks for the heads up but I'm pretty sure that this is a different blade. If I'm not mistaken, (and I admit that I am often) there is a Supermax Platinum and a Supermax Super Platinum. I have tried the regular platinums and don't find them quite as smooth as the Super Platinum. Good deal on these though.

I have read that there is no difference between the two, but here is another link.

I notice a difference, but I prefer the plain platinums.

I found the Super Platinums to be a nice blade. If they are indeed discontinued, that's a shame.

The Platinums are definitely a different blade for me. No where near as smooth. One of only two blades that I would never purchase again, the other being Derby. Always a YMMV. Smile

I briefly asked some one from India about SuperMax blades availability locally and he believes that the new SuperMax Platinum Plus are very close to the SuperMax Super Platinum.

http://www.supermaxworld.com/platinum_su...nless.html

It is another story that he is unable to procure them locally and has an arrangement with the company to deliver it to him every so often.

Super Platinum works well for coarse beards and last longer, they were very nice blades.

Well I did go ahead and order a flat of these from the Ebay posting and they arrived quickly. They look like the real thing and they have put me at a more comfortable level now of about 500 Supermax SP's stored for the Shavepocalypse, so I can breathe a little easier. I still hope that someone begins stocking these regularly because that Ebay seller apparently only has about 9 flats left and I found one listing for 1 flat only on Amazon.

I will probably pass on all of the references to some vendors which only have the 5 tucks. If I were to pay the tuck price and buy 20 tucks to acquire 100 blades, I'd be in the ballpark of the Super Iridiums anyway and I'd just as soon have them for those prices.

The Ebay price was about $19 and I bought my other 400 from Turkey for around $12.50 and for those prices they are the best value blade going in my opinion.

Still curious about the scarcity !

I've been wondering the same thing. I've heard so much about them but can't find them anywhere, at least in 100's. Nobody seems to know, from what I gather. I've asked this question also and mostly got no response.

I also love the Supermax Super Platinums, and with the exception of the ebay vendor with few boxes, I too cannot find anyone who carries them anymore. David at razorbladesandmore.com also stated that it was unlikely that he will be able to replenish his stock.

Since Supermaxworld.com still shows the Super Platinums as a current product, I sent them an email inquiring where they might be available for purchase, particularly in the U.S.A. or online. I'll post a follow-up if I receive a response.

Despite a few attempts, Supermax never responded to my email inquiries. Very frustrating!

Do we have a final answer on whether the regular "Platinum" blades are the same as the "Super Platinum"?

Thanks.

IMO, definitely not and that's what almost everybody seems to say from what I've read.
I've tried them back to back in the same razor and the Super Platinums are/were much smoother. I guess YMMV. It's worth a try if you like the Supers.

They are definitely different blades, I am sure each blade has it's own fans but they are very different.

I agree they're not the same but I had different results. For me the regular Plats were the smooth ones.
