As 2012 winds down what would you say were your best and worst acquisitions this year?

Best:
  • E7 Scarlett custom brush (from Bob @ Elite Razor) with WSP HMW knot (23/50)
  • Cobra Classic
  • EverReady Streamline
  • WSP Monarchs
  • JABONMAN soaps

Worst:
  • GFT Soap
  • Muhle STF (my wife loves it so it sticks around)
  • RazoRock King Louis soap

Best:
- Ogallala bay rum shave soap with the tin mug. (18 straight shaves and I still can't believe how good this soap is.)
- Harris soaps (esp Lavender and Windsor.)
- GFT Rose soap

Worst:
- Thater 49125/0 3-band (Great cream brush but I use mostly soaps. Will be sold when I decide on a new Simpson.)
- Semogue 1460 (Sold. My 2nd unsuccessful attempt at boar.)
- Pre de Provence soap (2 shaves & PIF'd)
- Harris Almond stick. (No scent at all and I didn't like it in stick form.)
- Masters & Pinaud bay rum AS. (I find Masters and Pinaud only usable when mixed together.)

Best:
  • DR Harris Arlington soap -- I love the scent and it's so simple to create excellent lather.
  • Edwin Jagger DE89 -- my 1st DE razor and my intro to this thing of ours
  • Cadet TP-26 OC razor -- took some work but I'm finally getting the hang of this more aggressive razor and it's paying off with excellent shaves

Worst:
  • Classic Shaving Wool Fat soap -- just unable to get a usable lather with it. The only soap I've given up on

This has been my first year of wet shaving, so the bests could get extreme. I'll try to keep it to the standouts.
  • Wet shaving!
  • Semogue Owen's Club 2-Band Badger
  • Floid Blue
  • RazoRock soaps (several)
  • Castle Forbes Lime shaving cream
  • The Shave Nook
  • /r/Wicked_Edge

The Worst
  • Shea Moisture Shave Cream
  • Bluebird Blades
  • Breaking my wife's first prototype scuttle. And my first scuttle.
  • Finding space to put it all

It's been a great year, my friends.

Eric, great plug for Wicked Edge. I've found myself enjoying it too. You're wife's scuttles do look great. They'd be very tempting if I used one as would many others. Winky

Ah, one blessing of older age is the ability to easily forget, especially the bad...

Best:

> a bunch of Lather Catchers: Superior 1900, Gem '05 & '07
> vintage Barbershop Pro' shaving Bar
> UFO Prototype SS handle
> various other razors that I already own, but I acquired better examples as spares

Worst:
>Colgate mug soap, I gave up on it, just terrible

This is my first year as well so it's a short list.

Best:
Discovering wet shaving and the great people at this and the other forum I visit.
Recently discovering the benefits of Witch Hazel
RazoRock AS Wax
Finding a 15 minute ritual each morning that helps me face the day.

Worst:
Clubman. At first I liked it but it's just too strong and too sweet for me. The bottle just recently got tossed.

I'm going to leave brushes off this list.

Best:
MdC (love it!)

Worst:
Reformulated GFT (which is odd because I've had good batches of GFT in Rose)
Stickers (total failure)

Honestly can't exactly remember what I've bought prior to June.

This post reminded me to check with LadySea on the progress on my scuttle. Shame you broke the prototype.
