is it an old brush or a new handle shape?
That handle looks like the Kent T8 ,that if the memory is not failing me, I remember Mark telling me that they made that habdle under the Vulfix name and for Kent too :

I had one of those Kent T8 on my hands and the handle was a delight thing to admire ,but the hair...oh boy, scratchy as sandpaper!!!

What a wonderful, interesting and thoroughly absorbing thread. My Simpsons brush need is going to get the better of me next pay day.
Thanks for all of this wonderful information, Gary. Also, I think its pretty wonderful to see your signature on a brush made by the current owners.

So, which handle styles are the oldest?
Sorry if I could have searched it, I tried a couple of terms, didn't find the answer.
Is the classic a classic? Or is the Chubby older? What about the Duke?
The actual oldest brush design still in production is the Wee Scot - although the original smaller Wee Scot 1 was before the current size made.

Is the Tourist part of the family collection?
The brush in the photo is not my one. Mine is slightly older!
I have at least one of each of the range from 1919 - 1990, in all hair grades and handle materials. Also brushes from our earlier family brands - Bajer, Simie, Alexsim, Simbal...
Gary
Simie?? Lol. Isn't that slang for a huge hairy woman who shaves??

Little note for anyone interested...
Nimmer Mill is on the market. Just been looking at some current photos online. On the market at £500k. It looks nothing like it did when brushes were being made. Most of the rooms have been opened up, with only the water wheel looking anything like familiar.
At £500k to say I'm interested would be an understatement...! To have back some of our family's 'history' would be great.
Our old family home further up the hamlet is also for sale. Maybe it's time to 'head back home'....

Since it's on the market, I suppose it'd be a great opportunity to at least tour the place, and perhaps share some photos.
On a different note, I was browsing the thread hoping to find information regarding some of the other names that were placed on Simpsons brushes, and the time frame these were produced. Abraham & Straus is one such name that comes to mind.

Others include Alexsim, Bajer, Simbal, and Simie, I believe.

Interesting, wouldn't it be cool to live where some of our favourite brushes were made! Too much of a commute for me I'm afraid, but if you are interested...
