What is the appropriate time to start a new years shave? I guess what I'm getting at is, do I have to wait until the ball drops before I touch the razor to my face or is it OK to lather prior to the ball dropping? When does the shave technically start?

Won't it be hard to kiss somebody with a face full of lather and a very sharp instrument in your hand? I'm going to wait until I wake up after sleeping in, then enjoy a nice luxurious relaxing shave.

I think you could wait until 10 minutes after the ball drops.

Otherwise, first thing to do when you wake up.

I say do it whenever you feel like it. There are no rules to this.

Well, I will do it in the morning, after a short deep sleep... Smile
But I guess any timing that suits you will do just fine! Biggrin

I was hoping for a more philosophical discussion as to when a shave begins. Smile

Well then, I would consider the beginning of the shave to be building the lather. My routine consists of getting out of bed, selecting soap and soaking the brush, heading downstairs for coffee and dog duties, back upstairs with mug in hand, wash face, apply pre-shave of the day, select soap/cream of the day, begin shave...

My philosophical answer is don't over analyze it...enjoy the night, it happens when it happens.
