I have heard from Teiste and Ben that Rooney makes most if not all the brushes for Truefiit & Hill, but then read somewhere in an older link, which I can't find currently, that Mark and Vulfix at one time also made brushes for Truefitt & Hill and maybe also for DR Harris......

Based on handle design and knot sizes and quality - Truefitt & Hill brushes look so much like Rooneys, that I several times have been very close to purchase a couple of TF&H brushes, because of the 15% B&B discount, but in the end always went the slightly more expensive route - and got the real Rooneys Biggrin

But are TF&H brushes also REAL ROONEYS, just with another stamp and what about DR Harris brushes, which seem to have handles that are not that similar to Rooney ?

Speculations will never stop, and I like to speculate, especially when it comes to brushes and who might or might not make them Tongue

What's your take on this - do anyone out there have insider information you would like to share with us in this thread, then feel free to post it right here, because I'm dying to know the truth about this subject !

The manufacturers probably have all the knowledge, but they are in a position where they can't share that knowledge with us for obvious reasons Smile

Am I the only one that cares about this subject or what ?

I am sure you have searched and found 100 threads speculating Rooney/M&F/Simpsons/Vulfix. The real answer is "very few know, the rest are guessing" Biggrin

While you're at it can you find out where Rooney actually is and who comprises their company?

Rooney makes the T&H Silvertip brushes and Vulfix makes the Super Badger brushes. The style 1, 2, and 3 Silvertip brushes correspond the the three handle shapes offered by Vintage Blades in their Rooney Super Silvertip brushes. The Vintage Blades brushes have slightly lower loft, and the T&H Rooneys are supposedly slightly denser than their VB counterparts.

I'm not sure about who makes DR Harris brushes now. I believe Rooney has in the past.

Also, are their brushes made from locally raised, cage-free, organically-fed badgers?

Are you saying that just because the handles are the same or is there some other information?

In order to better speculate, when exactly did the T&H and DRH brushes come out and how long have they been using those handle shapes?

i think i posted it on the Rooney thread, but i'll say it again.

HANDLE SHAPE does NOT make a difference.

Vie Long LE = Simpson
WSP = Kent
Shavemac Octo = Thater

pretty sure none of these similar handled brushes are being made by their counterparts.

it's the knots that makes it an Ultra Soft Rooney.

I am planning on a T&H horn brush and it's based on the thought that it's a Rooney knot...as I know i love the Rooney hair.

hopefully someone can clear it up, but i don't think we'll see hard and fast evidence.

if someone can post proof, i'll buy them a cheese sandwich. Wink

Does that count for half a cheese sandwich?

For what it's worth, Lee confirmed Rooney makes brushes for both DR Harris as well as T&H. He told me Rooney does most of its business making brushes for other companies.

AFAIK, the following informaion came from the CEO of T&H in North America. Or so I've read so. But hey, here it goes:

Quote:The Truefitt and Hill Wellington series is made by Rooney and the same as the Rooney 1 series in Super.
The Truefitt and Hill Regency series is made by Vulfix and the same as the Vulfix 223x series.
The Truefitt and Hill Carlton series is made by Vulfix and the same as the Vulfix 37x series.
I believe the Truefitt and Hill turnback is the same as the Vulfix turnback.

Source: here and here.

Which line does Rooney make for DRH? Mark explicitly stated it's not the H line.

It is confirmed. T&H Wellington predates 2006, the reemergence of Rooney.

I bought a brush from the T&H U.S. website a few months ago because I liked the shape and faux horn color. It arrived with a Simpson sticker on the side opposite the T&H label, marked "3" and silvertip. It is identical in every respect except handle color to my Simpson Emperor 3. I also have a T&H Moon Java, which I'm certain is a re-branded Rooney. On the other hand I recently bought a brush at TOBS and when I got home found a "2236" sticker on the bottom, i.e., Vulfix. Previously I bought a TOBS branded brush which looks exactly like a Rooney 3/2. I'm pretty sure all of these guys outsource to a variety of manufacturers, not just one.
