This year begins my 20th year bird watching, I'm still excited to see even the every day birds around me.

My wife and I went west into Oklahoma, Sequoyah NWR. We saw thousands of ducks, Eagles, Hawks, Pelicans etc. We had a good day.

Nice. If you haven't seen the movie The Big Year with Jack Black, Owen Wilson, and Steve Martin, about competitive birdwatching, I'd recommend it. Quite funny in parts.

I loved that movie, but the reviews were polarising! It turns ornithology in to the ultimate competition. Brad I hope this year, is a big one and sees many more days like the one you just had!

Yes, I have I know people that are like that in real life.
Every year I start a new year list. We have started with out with 45 birds so far.

Each year there is a World Series of Birding, where teams raise money for conservation for the birds. It is based upon how species seen in a 24 hour period.

Great pics, Brad....I'm a birder, too. live in n. central MA...we are in the woods and wake up to the local turkey flock, have nesting Barred Hawks, Great Horned owls hang out in the tall pines off the driveway. We have Yellow Flickers, Hairy, and Downy wood peckers year `round.
All the winter visitors are here. The cardinals are year `round. Indigo Buntings and Orchard Orioles soon in the spring. When I fill the feeders, the Chickadees will eat out of my hand. Such a treat ! Thanks for sharing the great pics.

I hope you were wearing a hat though...that many birds could definitely cause a bombing. Biggrin
