Hi all,

I'm off to Madrid next week for a long weekend and wanted to know if there are any good shaving shops to visit. I'm after some La Toja goodie and perhaps a Vie-Long brush.

Thanks,

Jody

At most supermarkets, you'll probably find the la Toja line of products.
Get the stick (very inexpensive, usually between €1,50 - €2,50). The splash and balm are excellent, too.

if you see the new LEA stick with tallow, garb it as well, is extremely inexpensive and damn good (some say even better than La Toja).

Some shops worth visiting:
Perfumería Nuria - Address: C/ Lagasca, 52 (Kent, Proraso, EJ, GFT, etc)
Montané - Address: Plaza Herradores, 10 (near Plaza Mayor) (Myrsol, Floïd, Proraso, LEA, LA Toja, etc.)
Casa Rodríguez - Address: Calle de las Maldonadas, 5 (Vie-Long brushes, etc.)

Thanks Emanuel, you're a star. I'm definitely going to have a little splurge on some Spanish goodies for sure.

Manuel (JabonMan) is from Barcelona. A long way from Madrid...

In Madrid you can also go to one of the El Corte Inglès department stores. There, you'll find La Toja, Proraso, Omega, Vie-Long, etc. Smile

Emanuel have giving you some good directions.

I also will add some old traditional perfume shops in Gran Via and calle Preciados , were they still selling some of the old Kent shaving brushes , as well as Vie Long.

And if you get lost in the city , check the small and old drugstores , where they still selling Omega boar brushes , vintage shaving sticks and aftershave lotions.

Also , if you want to enjoy a good barber shave , visit "El Kinze de cuchilleros" , very close to Montane shop , and close to Plaza Mayor. Here is a video of that location and the barber in action :

Address: Calle de los Cuchilleros, 15, 28005 Madrid, Spain
Phone:+34 913 66 58 87
Transit: Toledo Nº 24

Madrid was my hometown for over 18 years...I still remembering getting my first La Toja stick , my first boar brush and badger brush as well as a lot of shaving goodies in the old drugstores when I was 18 and I started with traditional wet shaving.

Hi all,

I'm still in Madrid an had an excellent day shopping yesterday. I had my most successful haul in Montané. Casa Rodríguez seemed to have closed down. I alos managed to get some more La Toja at El Court Ingles.

Here's some pics of my haul:

I used the Vie-Long brush this morning, it's a lovely little 2-bander. Needs a proper clean as there's some serious badger funk but it's lovely.

The brush is lovely. A little bit on the small side for me and a little bit to light to hold but I'm very happy with it. I'm going through the process of testing the new products. Will update when finished testing. Thanks again to all the great recommendations.
