I have had a long and storied career. I worked in radio and television from age 19 till 37. Lots of late nights, holidays, early mornings, etc and decided I wanted a change. I had always been in and out of pawn shops since I was a kid buying stuff so I went to work for one. I loved the job but my boss wasn't much to work for so I just up and left. I know, not smart in this economy, but when you're getting blessed out from day to day, it wears on you. I took a flying leap and applied for a position with a "think different" computer company that also makes phones, tablets, and music devices. Never thought I'd hear back from them. I heard back from them and had an interview. Never thought I'd hear back from them again, but today I accepted a position with them. I am absolutely thrilled. I gave up on it and started a job at a local warehouse. I do like that job and I hate the thought of going in there tomorrow and saying I've accepted another position with a better company.

I'm staying in TN for now. We'll see what happens soon enough.
I know pawn shops get a bad rap, but I learned alot working in a pawn shop. I knew nothing about guns, jewelry, or tools, but now can tell you within a few dollars what most anything is worth. I loved that job, but my boss loved to curse and scream and yell. I did become the razor and knife expert of my chain, and people starting bringing in DE's and Straights to pawn because they knew I'd give them what they asked on them and in most cases, more. The last day I worked, a fella brought in a Fatboy and a Slim and I loaned him $25 on the pair ($10 on the slim, and $15 on the Fatboy) which was $10 more than he was asking for. When I left, I know I loaned on a few Red Tips, Fatboys, Slims, Boker Straights, Dovo Straights, Techs, and SuperSpeeds. My boss made it clear that if a customer didn't come back and pick them up, I had to buy them, but every single customer came back and picked their razors up.
