I am having trouble getting replies to a problem I have with an Expert Select brush I ordered from Shavemac. The brush may have to be returned. Right now, it appears Bernd does not wish to answer my emails.

Has anyone had any experiences of this nature with Bernd? Advice?

Never had an issue like that. How long has it been since your email?

he gets a lot of emails, and most likely answered in rotation when time permits.

i found email responses were in the 4-5 day range.

just out of curiosity, what is the issue?

Bernd may be out at the moment. I have not heard back from him on a big thank you for a custom he did for me. Not replying is highly unlike Bernd, it may take him a day or two but he always replies.

Same here - perhaps a few days to reply but reliable. Best of luck but I suspect he'll make it right.

+1 He speaks pretty good English if I remember correctly. I had an issue with a brush and after speaking to him he just sent me another one, so I ended up with two.

I received my order on Saturday, December 22. I emailed right then, but realized most of Europe takes two weeks off for Christmas and New Years. I then emailed at the beginning of this week and received a reply that needed a follow-up. I have sent two emails, one late Tuesday and one late Wednesday with no response. These are simple emails requiring simple replies.

Bernd was gone for the standard 2 weeks at Christmas and he's been back out of touch since Tuesday morning.

I don't know what the problem is with your brush, but I am certain Bernd will make it right.

I ordered a Express Select in Finest with a 25 mm knot and 50 mm loft. I specifically requested a hybrid knot and, on Teiste's suggestion, chose a Fan shape. What I received was a brush that was more like a Silvertip (not a D01) with hardly any backbone and a regular Fan shape.

I have not used it as I may need to return it and go with D01 Silvertip. It is so soft, I am afraid it will bloom to kingdom come. This is not what I expected from a Finest. Thoughts?

Many people review the finest as being not that different in feel from their regular Silvertip. My own experience is limited to the D01 though. Godspeed, I'm sure Bernd will have a solution for you.

Thanks for the info,

are you able to post pic of the hair.

i am only familiar with Silvertip and D01, but many others will be able to spot what grade hair it is.

it's a natural product and many feel the Finest is as soft as silvertip, so it's probably correct and how it should be in terms of hair. now the shape is another story.

The finest is 2/3 Silvertip and 1/3 pure, so it will have many of the characteristics of Silvertip.

Shavemac has 3 knot types AFAIK. Standard bulb, flat fan and hybrid which is in between the two, which looks much like a slightly rounded fan. It sounds like you asked for a hybrid which will not be flat topped.

My goal was a brush more in line with what Teiste received here:

Thoughts?

I just receive 3 custom made brushes from Shavemac and I have the problemas you, one is fan shaped and not bulb shaped - I already own it 99% identical in another handle, just 1 mm thinner in knot size.

I will contact Bernd about the matter, already emailed him.
I'm sure he will work things out, errors occur, just kind of annoying, when it's a brush shipped half around the globe Smile

Mine is only shipped to Denmark, but we still have to bring it back to the post office and wait and wait for it to get back.......

The one to the left is a brown - black D01 2 band I bought 3-4-5 weeks ago from Shavemac, D01 2-Band 25 mm knot, 54 mm loft and in FAN SHAPE.
The Blue Marble 167 was the one I just ordered and received today - D01 2-Band 26 mm knot, 54 mm loft and in BULB SHAPE.

My problem is that I have an extremely hard time seeing the bulb shaped knot in my blue marble 167 model. To me it's a copy of my 4-5 weeks old Shavemac brush to the left in the photo.
I don't order two of the same brushes, unless I love love them highly and I fear there is a chance they will be discontinued.

Bulb shape gives a completely different feeling than fan shape does !
