Has the Merkur Vision gone?

Various sources are reporting the Merkur Vision as discontinued...

Can anyone confirm or deny?

I have heard it as well. Phil would be a good source to ask.

I seem to recall a similar conversation about a year ago when I started. Or am I thinking of some other Merkur?

I am really torn on this. The Vision is a fantastic shaver, and I never had issues with the size of the head. That said, the fact there are videos all over the place on how to clean and maintain your Vision is a major turn off for me.

Kind of sorry to see it go though.

If its true I am also sorry to see it be discontinued from production. I always wanted to see a smaller version of the Vision which would have made it a little easier to handle.

Dear Mr. Lea,

Thank you very much for your email.

The VISION razor is not discontinued, but has a very long lead time unfortunately.

Hmmm, I wonder if the rise of blade shaving is causing that? I'd like to think it. Those razors are going somewhere.

It's the best razor that I've ever used to be honest. When you hold it, you know you are really using something special.

As well. IMO the best DE razor out there, hard to get or not. Nothing quite like the musical shave it delivers so smoothly you hardly notice...except for the sound!!! And adjustable from mild to as aggressive as you can take. So what if you have to maintain it? Should be taking rigorous care of all expensive razors to prolong their life anyway. Part of the enjoyment to me is the mechanical maintenance after every shave. Blade out, washed, dried and scum removed....every time.

I agree 100%. A large part of the why I love wet shaving is the process involved in it and the Vision's cleaning procedure adds even more to what I already love. Also, guys, keep in mind, you don't have to take it apart all the time. Some do every time it's used, some don't at all and there's examples of everything in between. Myself, I clean it when I replace a blade as I already have the blade door open anyways.

This really is no different then having to strope or hone a straight razor really. I think just because it's the only DE razor that needs this much attention, people think it's potentially a bad thing.

Perhaps they should now call it the "Merkur Invisible". Sad
