Robert Quinn handcrafted handle...

It was my great pleasure recently to correspond with Bob of Elite Razors.
As a result, I acquired a magnificent handcrafted handle.
This unique piece is turned by Bob from Amboyna Burl.
This rare wood heralds from Indonesia and is among the world's most expensive.
Bob's skill at turning wood has revealed a wonderful range of colours
from deep yellow orange to deep red
that makes each handle turned from this material wonderfully unique.

I paired the handle with a Muhle Safety Bar head from the Sophist range.
I thought this most fitting given both are such high quality products.
The handle is short, just the way I like it.
It feels balanced and it's extra girth around the middle so comfortable in hand.
The feel of warm wood, in stark contrast to cold metal is so inviting.

So pleased am I with this handle,
I have already negotiated with Bob for a second.
This time a resin handle to match a special brush I recently acquired...

Ben, that's an awesome handle. Like you, I lean to shorter handles and that one would look great with a number of heads. Congrats!

Thanks Billy, it's most likely to end up wearing a Muhle OC (2010) head the majority of the time! However it is certainly very nicely balanced with the heavier SB on it now.

Alex, they start at a little over $30, which to me is very reasonable...

WoW, Ben - that handle is a thing of beauty HeartThumbsupHeart

Only my Mühle Stylo Thuja Wood can compete with it, but for $30, this is amazing value for money......a R89 head cost maybe $25 - so to get such a razor for a total of $50 is very good value for money Smile

Bob does incredible work, and it shows once again in your new handle. The colors are insane. As you know Bob has made three handles for me and I love them.

What do you think of the sailboat deck water sealant he uses? Is it just me or does the wood feel even "grippier" when wet?
