I've been using a Wilkinson Sword Classic with Wilkinson blades for about two weeks or so now, after using an electric razor for the last probably 10 years or so.

Just got a 1954 Gillette Fat Handled Tech in on Friday, got it loaded up with a Wilkinson blade for tonight.

My order from West Coast Shaving should be here this week. Ordered the Everything Sample pack. It's contents are below.

Any special order I should try these out?

Merkur Super Platinum (10 blades)
Feather New Hi-Stainless Platinum (10 blades)
Crystal or "Israeli" (10 blades)
Derby Extra (5 blades)
Wilkinson Sword (5 blades)
Gillette 7 O'Clock SharpEdge (5 blades)
Astra Superior Platinum (5 blades)
BIC Chrome Platinum (5 blades)
DORCO Platinum ST-300 (10 blades)
DORCO Platinum ST-301 (10 blades)
Red Pack Israeli (5blades)
Lord Platinum (5 blades)
Sharp (5 blades)
Shark Super Chrome (5 blades)
Shark Super Stainless (5 blades)
Nacet Platinum (5 blades)
Super-Max Stainless (10 blades)

When I got mine, I went in alphabetical order.

I'd say, save the Feather until you're very confident in your technique as far as "no pressure" is concerned.

I agree, the Feather might be best towards the end of your blade adventure!

Maybe start with the Derby or Dorco.

I've had good results with the Bic, Lord, 7 o'clock and Israeli.

I believe the Nacet is a good blade and that the Merkur probably gets the least love out of the selection.

Enjoy the experience and share your observations...

When I started DE shaving, Feathers were the only ones immediately available to me. I found they helped me improve my technique very quickly. If I were to do it all again, I would choose Feathers again. Just remember, no pressure!

Whatever you choose! i would highly suggest sticking with one blade for a quite a few months once you have found one that works to perfect your technique so as to eliminate a very important variable in your shaves. Good luck.

Very! sound advice... 6 weeks being my minimum recommendation (for those that are impatient), with 8 to 12 weeks a better time frame (IMHO).

I tend to know after a shave or two if I like a blade or not...
