I work with a bunch of guys in my Auto Parts field ranging from their early 20s to late 60s and they all know about my shaving hobby.

Well yesterday I got a surprise from two of them.

One brought in a black handle Gillette Super Speed and then about an hour later an older co-worker mentioned he had a old razor lying around his house and would bring it in for me.

Now this one was a great find...

After my usual clean up with Scrubbing Bubbles/hot water/old toothbrush followed by a Flitz polish this is the outcome.

A Gillette Rocket HD!

Here's a shot of them together-

Thanks Guys!

The HD is truly a great shave; it feels great in the hands and has such a lovely heft. Not dissimilar to the Merkur HD shave-wise IMO, but I prefer the Gillette...because they are older - period - and have that historic 'aura' you don't get from a modern razor (although I like them, too).

If I am not mistaken, the HD is the British model. Excellent! For those who do not know, the side plates are the give-away; British models are (generally, but not always) pointed at the ends. American are flat/square.

A great gift. Both of them are. What decent men you work with. If it were not for gestures like these, we would all be reduced to merely existing and not truly 'being'. This is what makes us characteristically and authentically 'men'.

Thanks celestino but it's just my older Fuji F30 P/S which really works great in low lighting situations

They actually required very little cleanup especially the Rocket HD

You are dead-on, made in England #694093. I originally thought it was a Parat due to the twist knob being the same size as the handle but the top of the handle gave it away as a HD. Well said about the gestures too.
