Given my location (Greece) and very high postage costs for scuttles based in Europe and US, I have decided to design a scuttle and commssion a local ceramics artisan to make one for me.

What do you guys think? Feel free to criticize.

It looks very functional. Would it be possible for the artisan to adding a webbing pattern to the interior of the bowl to facilitate lather building?

Yes, he can add a webbing pattern but he forgot for this one!
I will post follow up photos.

Excellent work! I did the same thing but the upper bowl was made too small to lather in, it sits in my bathroom useless. Good luck with yours!

Actually this is the 4th version he produced before we got it right.
First one was too small (big enough to hold the brush for face lathering). Second and third were too shallow and the fourth one is the bomb!

Very nice.

Only thing I can see is you may want to have spiral or web pattern in the upper bowl to help create lather.

The brush is an Omega 48. Gentlemen, according to your experience, is this too big? (inside bowl is 12.5x8cm).

Thanks for all the comments, I appreciate it.

Well, it's not a two-piece anymore.
I had to glue them together as the top bowl kept floating when I filled the bottom with water.

Very nice . I use a setup very similar. The cup part of mine can be put into the micro wave, so I heat the up that way.

Looks pretty sharp. Seems a bit larger to me, but that's a personal preference thing.

Eric, you are right, it is a bit big but I have found out that it's not as bad as being too small.

For example, this is the first scuttle I asked him to make for me (for bowl lathering).

Obviously not fit for bowl lathering, but I have found it's very good for keeping the brush warm when face lathering!

I prefer my scuttles to be about 6.4 cm deep. The diameter is just fine.
