In the last several months I've become quite a fan of open combs.
I was given a Gillette Old by a friend of mine, and was so impressed that I bought a Razorock Jaws (Cadet O/C) soon after.
The next step was the Muhle R41.
I will say that I prefer more agressive razors,(The R41 certainly fit the bill) but it does sometimes require more attention in it's use than I have to give.

A lot of debate has been had ion the forums about the terms aggressive versus efficient ETC. I prefer to think of it more like a function (Aggressiveness + Ease of Use = Efficiency)

This brings me to the latest aquisition in the DE stable..The Fatip.

I perused the Bullgoose site for quite a while before settling on the Fatip Grande in Nickel. I placed the order with Phil and waited patiently. As a side note it was the quickest shipped international package I have ever received so Kudos Phil.

The razor arrived yesterday and I took it for a spin last night.
SOC Boar, MWF and an Astra SP.
No exageration ..the best closest shave I've ever had.
No ,and I mean zero, irritation and the smoothest mug I've ever felt.

The aggressiveness of the open comb design coupled with the ease of use of this great piece of equipment make this my my most efficient shaver to date.

thanks for reading

Phil

Phil,
I, too, just received my Fatip this week and while I only have two shaves on it I can attest to it being a very smooth shaver.

The Joris is on the aquisitions list.
It's a heck of a lot easier to set aside $36.50 than $158.00 though. But they are like works of art.

The Joris is better finished and a joy to behold, but essentially the same razor head and only marginally smoother. The FaTip is by far the sensible choice!

I got a Fatip from Phil a little over a year ago and I agree. I put it on a BRW handle and it's my favorite razor.

The Cadet OC is close, but it's a bit more aggressive and I need to pay closer attention when I use it.

Awesome!

Few things beat be rewarded with a killer shave with a new razor!!

Joris-vs-Fatip... Does the Fatip have similar inconsistencies with being able to fit on various handles??
