I picked up this supposedly "small" brush last week, an extra-dense Stubby 1 three band. The knot is impressive. I understand it was purchased from the Classic Shaving NOS sale. I know this isn't a unicorn brush or anything, but it's my first Rooney with at least a little bit of mystery surrounding its origin. Who else has one?

I plan to post back here after I use the brush. So far I have just washed it and done a test palm lather. I can tell the dense hair is going to take some trial and error; it's significantly different than even my 2XL. Now on to the pics.

As received:

I soak all used brushes in a water/vinegar mix; the knot dwarfs the usual juice glass!

Bloom!

Hi Ryan

That's a very nice looking brush Thumbsup

What are the dimensions of the brush?

Take care, Mike

Wow, that looks like a very hefty little brush. I'll look forward to seeing the use reports.

Published specs are 26/45 for the knot. Handle is 38mm tall. I haven't yet measured this one myself.

Ryan, i was fortunate to get one to go along with an older 1XL 3-band which looks almost identical to this one.

Mike, yes he is. Just don't call him short and fat!

I don't have a problem with short handles, but this one certainly is compared to the knot.

If it's really 26/45, it probably will be quite stiff and perhaps scrubby. I have a Stubby 1 in Finest, and at 25/48 it has a whole lot of backbone and body.

I have the 2XL with the "gel tips"; very nice brush. I think it's my biggest knot.

I've heard of these extra-dense brushes in super three band compared to a sponge (perhaps negatively), since there is so much hair you don't get the feel of individual hairs. I guess I can maybe see that comparison, but to me it's a good, luxurious quality. You know, just adding variety to the stable!

They are very lovely brushes and i am sure you will enjoy it. It is very, very dense. It will take at least two days for it to dry, thoroughly, though.

I just measured the knot and it is actually 27/45. The handle checks out at 38mm. I'd just like to mention again that this is a "Size 1." (!)

Hi Ryan

Sorry, he's gone from being a stocky fella to "short and fat!" Wink Tongue Wink

Take care, Mike

They are great brushes. I owned and sold one identical to yours, from the NOS sale. It was too short and dense for my liking but they are definitely works of art by Rooney, I hope you really love yours!

Great little fat feollow of nice brush.

Handle is too short for me, I try to avoid handles shorter than 42-43 mm.......

I own the 2XL and owned the 3XL in Rooney 2-Band, great brushes !

I think I have the same brush as you Biggrin, extremely dense and short loft brush. Handle is very ergonomic to hold to me and perfect for face lathering.
