I have received some complaints about excessive thread bumping in the B/S/T. As such, we have added an additional rule. Threads may be bumped a maximum of once daily.

Phil, quick question.

Does a response to a question/comment in the b/s/t thread constitute as a bump?

No...that would not be considered a bump. I should probably clarify.

I actually just bumped two threads and then stumbled upon this one, I thought I violated some rule but I haven't, thankfully. I bump threads but once or twice a month.

Michael, yes - The rule is focused primarily on the seller, to discourage unfair bumping of "slow" threads to the top. Browsers that post in these threads effectively do the same thing but hopefully add support or informative information about the item that benefits others.

Phil may correct/clarify but I thought I'd expand on this general practice.

Just expressing my opinion, but although the rule says once a day bumping is allowed, I still would urge people not to bump more often than every few days.

Not sure if this applies.. does an edit of the OP result in a bump? I often see a pre-lim post put up with.. "pics to follow" or similar. Or as I often do, post from my idevice and have to edit it later for clarification or grammar..

No, editing OP is not a bump.

When someone post a new comment and it says bump, that's a bump.

i agree with John...i'd like to see bumps left to once a week or even less.

@MikekiM...i would think editing an original listing would not be a bump, unless you added useless post saying "new info added".

there are many ways to slip and slide around the rule, hopefully it doesn't have to be spelled out, everyone knows what the rule is for and there should be no need for 15 sub sections to it. NO BUMPS.

if someones says "GLWTS" or "nice prices" etc, no need for the OP to post "thanks" and bump it yet again.

i would like to see discussionsons on BST threads to be very limited. no need for people to say "wish i had the funds", "GLWTS", "nice prices etc". i'm guilty of a few posts like that, but will try to refrain from them in the future.

there is nothing worse then having a listing and filled with 20people saying "nice stuff", "how does it shave" etc....most of the posts like this should be avoided and/or sent via pm if clarification on an item is needed.

Ah....you got me there....I guess I should have specified "less OFTEN"

I'd go so far as to say I'd like to see NO bumps...but that's just me.

All we'd see then is relistings of the same product once it gets pushed to page 2 of the listings.

Glad I'm not buying anything this year or selling much...it should all be worked out by the time I'm ready to buy and sell.

I love the BST and am glad Phil is taking some rules and applying them to make it even better

I think a week is a decent amount of time for a bump. IMO.

A week is decent, 3-days is decent, and two weeks is decent, but "the man" has set it at 1-day/24 hours.

Carry on.

Billy, I totally understood what Phil said. Thanks for the explanation, though.

I don't have a problem with this rule at all. The BST isn't so extremely busy that you need to bump your items that much anyway. I just hope that the BST on this site doesn't get the LONG list of rules that other shaving forums have adopted. Not only is the list extremely long, but they change the rules multiple times each year!
Ever since I found this site, I have been spending a lot more time here than on the other shaving forum!

I also like this rule. Otherwise a seller who doesn't "bump" every day will quickly find themselves on page 3.
