I'm intending to purchase a Dr Harris soap.
I have Windsor already and I'm considering Arlington and Marlborough.
I will probably acquire the matching aftershave too.
Which would you recommend and why?

Arlington is the better scent - citrus over fern, very nice and versatile. I have the shaving soap, aftershave, and cologne Cool

Marlborough is a heavier, woody scent more suited for colder months, and IMHO is not as good.

Thanks for your input Steve. Sounds like the scent maybe similar to Pen's English Fern?

Still hate Arlington! Biggrin
If you don't want to order both, email DRH, they will mail you all scents samples free of charge, nice handwritten card as well. For you it may be different but I got it in 4 days!!!

I can't smell the difference. That and they're so subtle that I don't think it really matters which you choose.

Or maybe I've bought pucks that have been lying around for years.

That's not the case for me - both pucks have quite a bit of scent. They were purchased new.

I have both and enjoy both very much. Arlington is a favorite in the summer and Marlborough a favorite in the winter. Arlington is much more fleeting than the Marlborough. But it's still the most complex citrus scent I've smelled. The Marlborough reminds me and my wife of Alt Innsbruck. Marlborough and Alt Innsbruck are her two favorite scents.

I have both and prefer Arlington.
A luxurious citrus scent. My Arlington smells also considerably more than Marlborough. Also the after shave it's really very good.
But the best scented Harris have you anyway. I love Windsor Love

I have both of them, and prefer Arlington to Marlborough.

Arlington is a nice fragrance, citrousy with a little fern on it. For me, it is one of the best scents in anything shave-related.
Marlborough is also nice. Think of it as a woody and refined version of Tabac. A mix of cedarwood with a little sandalwood beneath.

Both of my pucks have a lot of scent also. They also lather extremely well, even with large brushes like the Semogue 2000 or the T&H/Rooney 1/3 silvertip, that many say that are not suitable for soaps.

Still haven't tried Windsor... Maybe in the near future Smile But I got some samples of the cologne, and it is indeed a very nice scent, with some similarities to Arlington - but different.

I've never smelled the Arlington but, the Marlborough might be the worst scented soap I've ever used. The lather was great though.

If you like woodsy scents, go with marlborough. If you like citrusy, go with arlington.

I prefer arlington over marlborough anyday.

Both soaps are great performers, though..

This is my biggest complaint with Harris soaps. I have all 5 and the strength of the scent varies greatly. I wish the scent of my Arlington was as strong as my Marlborough, but unlike my "unscented" Almond at least it has some scent. I don't have any Harris aftershaves, but you may need both. I find Arlington more of a spring/summer scent and Marlborough a fall/winter scent, but I won't be replacing either one when gone. I'll be sticking with Lavender and Windsor.

I haven't used Marlborough, but I love my Arlington and bought the matching cologne.

My puck is nicely scented, though it's not overpowering. This is what I expected based on lots of different reviews, so I never thought twice about it. The EdC is also on the subtler side compared to some others I have used, but the smell lingers for several hours.

I regularly use and enjoy both. The performance of both is virtually identical...in a word, excellent. Their fragrance is however very different, Arlington has a citrus/fern fragrance, Marlborough has a warm woody fragrance. D.R. Harris shaving soap fragrances are refined and more subtle than many other brands.

I prefer "darker" scents so I'm going to be ordering Windsor or Marlborough once I unload the Arlington in the selling forum. The Arlington is light and fresh, maybe better suited to warm weather which I am definitely not experiencing right now. Brrrrr

My advice is to buy both so you have 3 of the available 5(excluding the rubbish Naturals). Performance is identical, only the scent varies. Although I use Arlington and Marlborough all year, the former is more suited to the warmer months, the latter to this time of year. You have probably figured by now the Windsor is more an all year round scent. If it has to be only one, then buy the Arlington. I would say the Marlborough is closer to the Windsor than the Arlington.

Something must have gone wrong and they didn't get your email or it went to spam. I was emailing back and forth with the guy like I was chatting. Very professional and full of knowledge service.
