I'm going to order a Dr Harris aftershave and I've narrowed my choice to Arlington or Marlborough.
I have the Dr Harris Pink aftershave, which was my aftershave of choice back when perfecting my technique.
Now irritation is not as much of an issue. Skin care is still important, but so is scent.
I will also purchase the matching soap.

Which do you prefer and why?

I would suggest both for the reasons I stated in the soap/cream thread on these products. However, if I had to vote for one my vote would go for Arlington simply because it's summer where you live right now...I thinkSmile

Gotta go with Marlborough as Arlington has always been too sweet for me.

I haven't tried any of the DRH aftershaves. How do they perform, in skin-care terms?

Of the two, it has to be Arlington which is also the soap I suggested in the soap forum. Remember that the scents of these Harris aftershaves do not linger which is to my liking as they don't interfere with with my choice of Cologne/EdT. If you go with the Marlborough soap, I would suggest buying an alternative AS such as Italian Floid "The Genuine".

You already got both soaps, shouldn't you get both aftershaves?

There's no faulting your logic...

Good choice.

I sold my Marlborough shaving cream, bcause it does smell a bit ashy to me - but for cooler days it still an excellent cream. The after shave is not that ashy in scent, a bit more sandalwood, but still most cedar wood. Better for the colder season though IMHO

Arlington can be used year round and is classic citrus fern scent with some woody undertones IMHO

I think you will enjoy both scents to be honest.
I love tobacco frags, but dislike the more ashy type of cedar scents, which is why I sold my Marlborough cream - but the after shave is solid and so is the cream. I could easily have kept it, but already own Windsor, Arlington and Almond shaving creasm from DR HARRIS and to my nose the Marlborough was not quite up there, though still nice Cool

I'm told the Dr Harris Sandalwood is an exceptionally robust scent...

It is an exceptionally robust scent, D.R. Harris sandalwood aftershave is stronger than most sandalwood colognes. Very, very nice scent but not for the shy user.

Great choice Ben! The Windsor is fantastic, as is the Arlington. The Marlborough is a bit smoky for me.

I have the Marlborough AS and really like it. It is, as described here by some, more of an ashy smokey scent that does not linger long. I have been wanting to try the Arlington for some time and that may come somewhere down the line. Right now I have to start using up what I already have. Rolleyes

Get both! Marlborough for Fall/Winter and Arlington for Spring/Summer. OR you can get both in one bottle by getting Windsor Wink

Seriously though, Windsor is really them taking Marlborough and combining it with Arlington. It smells like thats exactly what they did, making it a great year-round fragrance.
