Boy oh boy, do we ever have an Artisan Soap Maker located in Rome Italy and his name is Marco, better known on here as MrDentini.

Marco asked if I would like to try one of his soaps so I read the descriptions on his website PANNACREMA and decided on this one.

The description says it is a mild blend of sweet tangy lemongrass and dark earthy oak-moss. The contrast is very pleasing.

The soap comes in a 100 gram block nicely wrapped in a lightly waxed paper in a small plain and functional box.

Upon opening the wrapper I discovered this is a soft soap and is very pliable so it can be molded into whatever you want to put it in.

I chose an empty Proraso container I had.

I face lathered with this soap and it made a rich creamy lather which gave great protection for my two pass shave. It also left my face feeling very soft after the shave. The statement above “the contrast is very pleasing” is spot on. A very refreshing earthy type of scent.

I would highly recommend for anyone to try one of Marco’s soaps if you find a scent that sounds interesting to you. And at this price point, you cannot go wrong.

Description: PANNACREMA is an Italian handmade shaving soap, made with valuable ingredients and an innovative method.

One of the most important ingredients is tallow, a rendered form of an animal fat.

Other precious oils in the recipe are: refined coconut oil, castor oil, and the excellent shea butter.

The presence of kaolin, an Italian white clay, gives the razor blade a unique slippery.

The fragrances, pleasing and non-invasive, have been specially designed for the needs of a predominantly male audience.

Disclaimer: Marco sent this soap to me at no charge with the understanding I would write my review whether good or bad. It just so happens it is more than good and it being free has absolutely nothing to do with my opinion.

I've only used the Valobra stick and it compares more than nicely with it.

Now granted it does not have that nice Italian almond scent, but it compares very favorably with Cella, P160, and Boellis.

They sound very interesting, and Johnny's reviews haven't steered me wrong yet.

If they had a North American stockist, or I had someone to split shipping with, they might be irresistible. If only there were a vendor who loved to offer Italian shaving goods somewhere in North America. Smile

I think Johnny and Teiste secretly get a per unit commission on every product they review Wink. Their reviews are always spot on and have turned me onto products that I probably would have never seen or overlooked. Yay for enablers! Biggrin

Wouldn't that be sweet.Smile I can honestly say this is the first time someone has given me a product to test and review.

Now if MdC, MWF, and Speick are reading this, I'll gladly give you my address for products to test and review.Biggrin

Thank you for the review. I have just ordered 2 soaps.

Italian soft soaps without the typical almond scent are always interesting. Wink

Not having the fake almond scent is a very good feature - at least for me!! Maybe I have to get one of these soaps, it sounded quite good.

I purchased two croaps, Africa & Mediterraneo, last Spring, and opened the Africa once I killed the remnants of my Tabac Puck. I molded the croap into my empty MDC Glass Bowl and this has been my daily soap since late October. The lather is slick and yogurt-like, very moisturizing with an enjoyable scent. I'm very content with the consistently great shaves and ease of lathering.

Once I've finished these two generous blocks of croap, I'll certainty restock the Den. They're reasonably priced and my Africa is hardly dented after nearly three months of daily use, very impressive for a soft soap/ hard cream. My brushes all have knots of 22-26mm, with lofts of 45-50mm and normally chew through croaps in 4-5 months. I normally don't need more than ~45-60 seconds of loading for 3+ passes, easily less load time than other croaps I've used before.

I like the concept of their different scent offerings, but hope Africa will be offered again since I'm really enjoying the scent.

Add: My Glass Container doesn't have a lid, and the croap remains just as pliable as the day I put it in the container, did I mention I love this stuff!
