The first is this guy:

That's the Muhle Silvertip Fibre in horn resin. It's a beautiful brush, even more so in person.

I have to admit, I'm really impressed with the presentation of this brush. I've never owned a Muhle before, so having this come in a a beautiful tube was pretty neat.

I'll use the brush this weekend and give you my thoughts (and more pics), but I'm impressed so far. The tips are soft and there's plenty of backbone, and the handle is quite solid - I'll weigh this later but I think it weighs more than my Polo 8. Quite comfortable in the hand, and the horn resin is absolutely beautiful. And since the knot is synthetic, no odor! I'm looking forward to trying this.

The second - well, you've seen this before:

No fancy packaging here unless you consider a clear plastic tube fancy packaging Tongue More backbone than the Muhle, but still quite soft on the tips. I have a 2011 LE so I love the material of the handle, and the ridges make it comforable to hold. Of course the knot is awesome; this is my third badger-boar mix from Semogue. It... smells a bit, but that is why we make test lathers.

Two brushes, both of which seem to be very nice additions to my collection (now at 18.) This is going to be a great weekend!

I have always liked the looks of Muhle's alternative horn brush handles and really liked them more when I got one. Your photos are great, and yes the horn is even better when viewed in person.

Enjoy your brushes.

Your glowing review of the Semogue and the synthetic Muhle were certainly part of the reason I ordered both!

Not my photography unfortunately - these were posted on the vendor's site.

It's an absolutely gorgeous handle. If only vendor on this side of the pond carried it... *hints to Phil*

Waiting on 3 boars (Semogue 830, Omega 35 and 37) otherwise I'd be ordering the two you just received, they look so good.

Seriously tempted. Must be strong.

I tried the Muhle synthetic today. I'll do a more in-depth review later.

Right now though - count me impressed. I used it for face-lathering, and it worked great. Lots of high-quality lather, a pretty soft feel to the tips, wasn't a lather hog at all. Also dries pretty quickly (not quite ten minutes but still pretty fast.) I want to try this on soap to see how it performs, but so far it's a winner.
