Hi lads,Geordie Sam here,I'm off to see the GREATEST band that ever took to a stage tonight,(Newcastle Arena)namely "The Who",or as some "wit" has re-named them "The Two" that's because Moon and Entwistle both died.
I first saw them in 73,I could NOT believe the amount of amps they had at the side of the stage, they were on scaffolding all the way up to the ceiling,my ears are still ringing even now.
This is NOT a biased opinion but I honestly think the "song" that sums up the "sixties" is MY GENERATION,I would LOVE to hear JOHNNY'S views on this,so over to you Johnny.
I have to trade for one of the above Vintage restores I did with Omega 22mm/50mm knots that are simply outstanding and are pretty much my most frequently used brushes. As I have two of them that are pretty much identical except for a handle I would like to trade one of them for a Semogue.

I also recently restored an old clear handled Fuller badger brush with an Omega 24mm/50mm banded boar. The handle cracked on me during the process, but I completed the restore anyway. Despite the visible crack (stabilized with epoxy) this brush has turned into an excellent performer. It is not yet fully broken in, but it's close. I love the shape of the handle and it polished really clear. Very interesting brush which is imperfect physically, but perfect functionally.

This particular black model is not sold any longer at Shave Nation. It was designed for Geo(Fatboy) to his specifications. It measures 4.5" wide and 2.5" deep. Retains heat nicely because air escapes from the bottom through a hole. Microwavable safe so you can heat water up directly in the bowl. I usually do 50 seconds which is plenty. Asking $25 delivered USA only.

Hi everyone -

Some items that for various reasons, explained below, I am not using. Fine print: all prices include CONUS shipping via USPS Priority Mail (except Captain's Choice which will be sent via USPS First Class Mail). For international buyers, we can negotiate shipping costs/delivery method (except of course for the Captain's Choice, which cannot be mailed out of the country due to the alcohol content).

(1) Dovo Silver Steel in Ebony Wood, with Vintage Blade strop and Clint Reeves Barber Hone. The Dovo is a 5/8ths full hollow-ground razor, also known as the "Prima." I actually won this off of eBay, which I normally don't do for straights, but the seller had only used it for two years and bought it from Vintage Blades, so I knew the lineage. It arrived not shave-ready (which I discovered after a pretty lousy shave a nice cut on my cheek) so I sent it out to a member of Badger & Blade (hillbilly) who honed it for free. He reviewed it and said it was in great shape, but just needed a good honing.

However, in the interim, I really got into my Feather Artist Club DX non-folding and so I made the choice to just stick with the DX. So it is still in the condition it arrived in from honing, even with the oil on it to protect it during shipping. What appears to be spots in the photo are just dust/particles from the oil. The only thing missing is the "Ebenholz" sticker on the scale (which I never really liked anyway). The scales are an ebony wood and in great condition. As you can see all the gold wash is there, including the intricate design on the spine. Also included is a Vintage Blades 2 inch strop in black latigo leather and nylon webbing. The handles are "D" rings as you can see. It has a number of minor/surface nicks that do not affect stropping in anyway. I imagine they can be sanded or buffed out.

Finally, included is a barber hone, a Clint Reeves "Anti-Strop" hone. It has two sides, one a "coarse" side and one a "fine" side, and from my research is probably comparable to a 4K/8K stone. I also bought this off of eBay (the seller compared it to a Carborandum). I've never used it but its in great shape. My overall goal was to create a low-cost, easy-to-manage straight setup.

I bought the straight and strop for $80, and the hone for $36. The razor alone retails for $110 new. I figured that $100 would be an appropriate price. SOLD! Thanks Johnus and Shave Nook!

(2) Rooney Heritage Emilion 1 in Super Badger. 21mm knot/48mm loft. This is my "holy grail" brush in badger, but I've discovered boar brushes and while I may regret it, I just happen to like my Semogue 1438 better. In fact as I'm writing this post, I'm starting to waver. This is an incredible brush with the "old" style Rooney barbed or hooked tips and a great fan shaped knot (they were part of the "unearthed" sale from Classic Shaving last year). While it is a 21mm knot, it "plays" a lot bigger and is definitely one of the softest brushes I've ever used. The handle is ergonomically shaped to do just about any kind of lathering, be it face-lathering, bowl-lathering, or anything else. I purchased this brush from the B/S/T here from scritchnscrub, and paid $130 for it. These now retail for $150 new. I figured that $125 would be appropriate. SOLD! Thanks pc4406 and Shave Nook!

(3) Captain's Choice Lime Aftershave. 100ml/4oz. I wanted to like this as a summer aftershave splash, but I was looking for something different, scent-wise. This is certainly no knock on Captain's Choice, which has great and moisturizing ingredients.

I bought this for $19 and used it only twice. I figured that $15 would be a good price. SOLD! Thanks Macko and Shave Nook!

As always, feel free to make any comments about my prices and descriptions in this thread. If you any other questions or comments, please PM me.

Thanks for looking,

Hi Gents, and Gals

I thought I would start a little thread about the best lathers you shavers have ever made. Lets make it a Top 5. After my shave last night after hitting the gym hard for 3 hours with cardio and weights, I took time to a looooooong shower followed by an even looooooonger lasting shave.

And I got the perhaps best lather I have yet made in my shaving life. A thick slick, foamy, protecting lather that made my 2-pass shave into a great experience and touch up could be done as usual without the need for adding further lather to my face.

I used a super lather of Martin de Candre Unscented soap and Castle Forbes Lime (after I moved, all the CF Lime cream were upside down in the container and it had turned softer and less gel like in texture, even though the lid had been sealed totally)

I applied a good deal of Castle Forbes Lime cream to my wet face with my fingers, rubbed it thoroughly in, adding drops of water.
Then dipped my brush scuttle soaked moist Thäter 4125/3 Bulb Black kind of huge brush into the Martin de Candre glass pot. Swirled it around gently for 90 seconds (I have extremely hard water)
Then started massaging it into the beard that was already coated in Castle Forbes Lime shaving cream. Took my time. After 4-5 minutes rubbing it in, massaging the face with the brush, I ended up with something good, well in fact the greatest lather I feel I have ever made up until now in my shaving life.

It didn't even dry up on me, even though I took extra long with my Pils Matte stainless razor and a Gillette Blue SP 7 O'Clock blade

I just knew this lather was a 10/10. The best I have yet made.
What is your favorite lather ?

My current Top 5 all are Super Latheres with Martin de Candre Unscented used as the soap

1. MDC + Castle Forbes Lime 10/10
2. MDC + Acca Kappa 1869 Pot 9.5/10
3. MDC + Xpec Unscented 9.25/10
4. MDC + Santa Maria Novella 9/10
5. MDC + Acqua Di Parma Pot 9/10

Honorable mention:
MDC + Floris 89 Tube 9/10
MDC + Penhaligon Blenheims Bouquet 9/10
MDC + I Coloniali Rhubarb 9/10
MDC + O' Melhor 9/10
MDC + GFT Coconut 9/10

Still need to test MDC with my CF Lavender and my Penhalion Endymion and Opus 1870 creams and the Xpec Scented cream........life is tough

I need a new/creative name for my soft solid shaving soap. It's not a shave cream and it's not a solid soap. It's somewhere in between. It comes in a jar. You can either scoop some out into a scuttle to make lather with or use a wet shaving brush over the top of the soap in the jar to make lots of stable lather. It is made with both sodium and potassium hydroxide. Whom I pick as a winner will get a jar with the scent of their choice. Help me name this type of soap please!

The contest will close on 6/30 at which point I will pick a winner.
