I have the generic witch hazel you'll find at rite aid and such and was wondering if anyone adds EO to get it to smell better.

I have a bottle of lavender EO that I would like to put to use.

I don't, but I know many people do it.
Add drops as you like. Most seem to use around 20 drops for a full bottle.

You'll need to give it a good shake everytime you use it too blend the EO with the witch hazel

RE: does anyone add essential oil to witch hazel?
I have added Tea Tree, Eucalyptus, Lavender and Sweet Orange essential oils to witch hazel with success. I mix them together in a little 2 oz bottle that originally contained hand sanitizer and I also add a few drops of glycerine and/or aloe vera to round out the after shave. None of these EOs have irritated my skin, but none of them have a scent that I really enjoyed either. I plan on picking up some vetiver, ylang ylang, sandlewood and cedar EOs to blend together to get something a little more to my taste.

I would recommend starting out using a few drops of EO with a small amount of wh so that you can see how you like it and you can always add more if you want a stronger effect. I wouldn't recommend adding EO to your large bottle of wh in case you don't care for the results as you will end up wasting a lot of otherwise usable product.

I do nearly the same thing! The only difference is I use cologne instead of EOs. I also use a 2 oz bottle that once contained sanitizer, and I mix it with aloe vera juice and glycerin. One more ingredient I use is alcohol. I use either rum or vodka. I don't measure but I'd guess I mix up 50% WH, 40%alcohol, 10% aloe, and then add a few drops of glycerin and then drops of EdC to taste. My favorite has been when using Tabac EdC.

I poured some of the standard witch hazel into a 3oz bottle I had and added a few drops of lavender EO. it made it much more pleasant to use, for sure.

I may try adding some EdT to my witch hazel, since my skin doesn't tolerate straight EdTs. But I've been using Thayer's unscented witch hazel, and it's fine just the way it is.
