Nice video and before that Marco guy,du212 was showing how to properly use this shaving soap,which was very unknown to many,but in France.Martin de Candre shaving soap.
Gosh,I should shave with Martin de Candre this coming weekend...

I love MdC, it's my all time favourite soap! Thanks for the video. I studied French for about 7 years, so the audio wasn't completely lost on me!

Lavender. Lots and lots of lavender. I opened my new jar near my wife, an ex-soapmaker, and she exclaimed..."whoa, that's lavender. I love lavender".

It's actually the ONLY thing I don't care for about MdC. Not a lavender enthusiast. Others have described a Petrol smell, but not a whiff of that do i get.

My scented jar smells like Noxema face cream to me. I used to use it to dry up pimples 40 years ago. Biggrin

A little on a pimple over night and like magic it would be gone in the morning Cool

So the scent is nostalgic I suppose Cool

What's so special about this soap that it has to cost $60 and it's not even tallow?

It's smells great works as good or better than tallow and last for ever! Package is high class glass... The $60 includes shipping. Quite a bargin. :)

Shipping cost accounts for a big chunk of the cost (which is annoying). Most people justify the costs based on longevity. It is a solid performer, but so are many other soaps. If it was widely available for $8 in a plastic tub, I suspect there wouldn't be nearly as much hype surrounding it.

Just used it this morning. I don't care what it cost. It is better than anything I have. The only thing that is as good is Castle Forbes. I have other GOOD soaps and creams but it truly is exceptional!!

tallow doesn't mean a good soap, no tallow doesn't mean a bad soap,.. i think the only tallow i have here that i like is my mwf, all the rest are veggie based, i pick products by how they work, not there ingrediants, you may miss out on some great stuff or end up using something not very good MdC isn't my favorite scent, but it does work great for sure

It's a soap I really don't mind paying the big bucks for. Because it's made up to a quality and not down to a price. Too often in this world today we settle for price. I get so tired of seeing that happen.

Yes, it's expensive and I choked a bit before spending the $, but my only regret is that I didn't buy 2 since I was already paying shipping. Next time, it's 2.

Tip to others, get at least 2. You'll have no problem selling them if you don't like it.

Always love seeing barbershop shaves, it's a shame that it has become a dying art. My guess is, it's because of the cost. Where I live, a barber shave costs anywhere from $30-$50, which makes it more of a 'really special occasion thing' versus something most men can afford once or twice a month, or even when getting their hair cut. Tough to justify spending $50 when I can get the same results for 25 cents doing it myself.
