Matador razors?
Anyone ever try a Matador razor? How are they as far as aggressiveness?

I recently came across this brand and really like the look and price of a few of their razors.

I have a closed comb it has more blade gap than your standard 34c or 89 razors, moderatly aggressive very nice handles and fairly priced.

That's good to hear it's more aggressive than a 34c. The handles are what really attracted me...I think I'll dive in and get one.

I had a Toro Mastiff longo, and really liked it. Is somewhat more aggressive than a Edwin Jagger, very efficient.

The finish, tough, was below average. Not in the top plate, wich was beautiful, but mainly in the baseplate.

RE: Matador razors?
I've tried a Matador El Caballero. Surely didn't impress me, though.

The razor delivers a good shave. Aggressiveness (or better said, effectiveness) lies somewhere between a Mühle/EJ and a Merkur. I surely didn't feel that it was more aggressive than a Merkur.

The finishing is the main disadvantage of these razors. Much worse than a Mühle/EJ or a Merkur.

Yes, it has a lower price and a nifty handle, but the finishing is just disappointing. Yes, it delivers a good shave (and perhaps, at the end, that's what matters more) but it is not on the same league as a EJ/Merkur/Mühle in the quality department. The same applies to the other brandings of this razor heads (Cadet, Maggard, HTGAM, etc.).

In the end, I believe it is a razor that doesn't bring anything new to the wetshaving word.... specially if you already own a Merkur or a EJ/Mühle. It can be a nice and inexpensive option for a beginner, thought.

Sorry to rain on your parade, but I'm just trying to give my honest opinion... and those were my thoughts when I've used that razor, so I couldn't write otherwise.

RE: Matador razors?
The finish on this Matador may not be an issue at least with the handle since it is stainless steel so there is no plating.

RE: Matador razors?
Some new stainless steel handles to come. No specs on these yet as far as length, diameter, weight, or if they come with head pieces.

I've got a Toro Mastiff Corto - it's a nice, efficient DE.

I'd say the handle alone is worth the price, and the shave is pleasant as well.

RE: Matador razors?
It shares the same head has cadet/pearl/maggards razors. and is certainly more aggressive than a Merkur HD. very good for two days or 3 days growth.
