I attended the New York Gift Show today at the Javitts Center. I was told by my wholesaler for Merkur that they have discontinued the slant line completely when i stopped by his booth. Silver and gold is gone, they are gone from the Dovo site too..

seems rather dumb if that's the case... as I sell a ton of them and the wholesaler is always backordered.

In any event, it would be a great opportunity because I would quickly release a RazoRock Slant!Biggrin

Interesting , maybe it's time iKon starts die casting razors and a slant could be the first model (and well under the $100 mark).

If this is true, then Leisureguy will have to change his recommendation for a newbie's second razor. Wink

I hope that isn't true. In the German forums, nothing came up about this.
A member of the Portuguese forum that lives in Germany (Alex. a.k.a. SLB04, also a member here) already contacted Dovo-Merkur. Let's see what they have to say about this. Smile

If this is true, I wonder if Merkur is moving away from 2 piece razors (11C, 37C, 39C) and if the 34C is next to go.

I have sent an e-mail do Dovo-Merkur after reading this rumours and I have just received an answer from Uschi Christ of their sales team.

She has written that this rumour is not correct and that Dovo Merkur still produces the 37C and the 39C. They do not intend to stop the production.

The P.S. on that note, however, read...

"Please don't tell everyone that for at least another month so we may sell lots of slants."

Just kidding, but you know you thought it too! Tongue

The Merkur line on the Dovo website doesn't even show the 2 piece razors at all. Shows the Vision,Futur,Progress,23C open comb and the 38C long handle in various handle configurations . So I assume they will only produce what is the most profitable line not necessarily the best seller.

Jerry, the Dovo-Merkur web-page doesn't show the whole line-up - as a matter of fact, it never did. That means nothing.

You have to look at the catalogue to see the entire current line-up of Dovo and Merkur: http://www.dovo.com/pdfs/MERKUR_web_2011_kl.pdf

Relax, Jerry. Cool The rumour seems to be untrue, as it was already denied by Merkur. Probably just caused by a misinformed sales rep.
