RE: SOTD: April 22nd Thru April 28th, 2012
Monday morning:

P.160
Simpson Special best badger
Muhle '11 R41
Vintage Wilk' Super+ Chromium
Kramperts Finest BR Reform' #1

I had to use the P.160 'cause it has been too long. Using up the Trumper samples will just need to wait one day.

The blade was a test blade and after such a fantastic beginning with the mild razors, it began giving me weepers with shave #5. This was #6 and the problem appears to be getting worse, I doubt that it's me. The blade was canned after the shave.

The Monday "Mourning" Shave

Pre-shave soap: Musgo Real Glyce Lime
Razor: 1967 Gillette Slim Adjustable
Blade: Astra Keramik
Brush: Simfix Grosvenor LE Two-Band
Soap or Cream: Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet (tallow formula)
A/S: Dickinson's Witch Hazel
Trumper's Marlborough Splash

A fine shave with mostly out of production products (only the MRGLO and the Dickinson's Witch Hazel are still being produced). The old Gillette still has what it takes for a good shave!

RE: SOTD: April 22nd Thru April 28th, 2012
Monday, 23 April 2012

Shavemac 177 silver-tip badger brush
Gillette Old Type razor
Astra Superior Stainless [Blue] blade (4th use)
Prairie Creations pre-shave oil
Kiehl's Lite Flite Shave Cream for the Brush
up & up (Target house brand) witch hazel
Prairie Creations original Unscented Aftershave Balm
Floris Cefiro talc
Dior Eau Sauvage EdT

The Astra Blue combined very nicely with the Gillette Old Type and I again got a BBS shave. This blade is one of the fussiest I've used when it comes to pairing blade to razor.

The more I use the Kiehl's the more I like it. It is a real shame that it has been discontinued. On a three pass shave, the menthol actually builds with each pass. This unscented lather is easy to make and the protective qualities and cushioning are superb. If you like a menthol shave and can find a tub of this as NOS then I highly recommend it.

Gillette 7 O'clock super stainless (First blade from my sampler pack)
Shaving brush (no marking, gift from my father-in-law)
Proraso Menthol & Eucalyptus Shaving Soap
Alum bar
Nivea A/S Balm

This is my second wet shave, I'm still learning how to make a lather and I reopened some of the nicks from my 1st shave Sunday morning.

Hi wlmcad. It sounds as if you are off to a very good start. Keep the pressure light, even over trouble spots, and you should be just fine. It all really does fall into place. I'm looking forward to hearing how subsequent shaves work out for you.

Sunday, April 22

Razor: Ever Ready 1914
Blade: GEM Stainless
Brush: VDH Pure Badger
Lather: Godrej Menthol Mist Cream
A/S: STYPTIC!, Alum, Lucido splash, Aloe Vera gel

Third day with the "little lather catcher". A great shave except for "one false move..." Smile Amazing how much a little cut on the neck can bleed! The 1914 is very nice and it's in remarkable shape for its age (and price).
