Want to Buy Another Cadet:: How Aggressive is/are the TTO Model(s)?
I've an OC, black-handled, rather aggressive.

I'd like to buy a non-vintage, heavy weight TTO, and would like to go with Cadet, provided that the razors are sufficiently aggressive.

How aggressive is it?

How does it compare to, say, the DE89? Or some other baseline you name...

I have the Cadet Mongoose and I really like it. I also have an EJ DE89 and it's probably my favorite razor. The Mongoose has a much bigger blade gap. I would say it's quite a bit more aggressive also. However, it's still a very smooth shaver and I haven't got any razor burn from it. Overall it's a well built razor that performs very well for it's price.

The Mongoose at least to me was really aggressive. The difference between it and the DE89 is like night and day. I'd rate it right under a Fatip as far as aggressiveness and below an R41

Go to Italian Barber and look at the new Razorock razors. Same maker as Cadet but they have some very nice designs and a great price.

Oh, and in my opinion the DE89 or Muhle R89 is the most well rounded and balanced razor on the market.

An aggressive non Cadet TTO razor to try would be the Parker R99. It's a long handled heavy beast. It was my first DE believe it or not Biggrin

I have a Parker TTO-13 from Shave A Buck, and it's hefty with a aggressive shave.

As I noted in my little review, it's heavier than my Parker 22R, and it's more aggressive than either of my other TTOs - in fact, it's at least as aggressive as my Merkur 39C slant and just slightly less aggressive than my Racer razor.

Personally I think the aggressiveness can be traced to the reasonable large blade gap and the flatness of the blade angle. If you like aggressive razors I don't think you'll be disappointed.

The Parker 99R is the razor I really want, but I've been made nervous by a review that says all of the razor's weight (4 oz!) is in its handle...

I believe it's sold at Colonial Drug, a store 10 minutes from me, so I'd like to check it out before buying.

No one sounds like they love the Cadet TTO...I don't like the Mongoose's appearance.

Does Parker make Cadet / Matador?

I love my Cadet and so do some others.

As to aggressiveness one measure, but not the only one is the blade gap.

My Cadet TTO 15 gap was measured at .81mm.

That puts it on line with the following razors.

Gillette Adjustable @ 5
Gillette Super Speed Red Tip (UK)

The TTO 15 handle is the same size as my Parker 98R which is a large heavy handle.

I hope this helps.

I love my Razorock/Cadet TTO and I usually can't stand aggressive razors, its just really smooth. If you are able to check it the Parker in person, definitely go for it.

My Cadet TTO-13 is more aggressive than my Feather Popular, two Weishis, and '64 Super Speed.

Still, it is not a "killer", delivers a reliably comfortable shave with the blades I find smoothest, and the price is fair. Try one; you'll be satisfied or you'll have an easy BST item with which to bargain. Cool

If you go look at the Parker check the blade gaps. Parker is notorious for uneven blade gaps,

Still?

My biggest gripe with Parker is the 71R I own.

It's gorgeous, but the blade gap must be defective, because it's so small, the razor literally cannot shave. My initial reason for coping the OC Cadet was to give this Parker, whose handle is gorgeous, a new head.

But the razor, the Cadet, is so good I've kept it as is, not Frakenrazoring it.

WOW - another Parker to check out: http://www.supersafetyrazors.com/Parker-...7PSOO6.htm

I want a gorgeous Butterfly & this may be it.

The 99R is also attractive, but I just saw this and my interest is doubly piqued. I'm still scared to buy a Parker. I know the gyt at Col. Drug. is too rigid to let me try the razor. Blade gaps can be hard to gauge by the eye. The 71R's head, closed comb, looks identical to Merkur's standard 3-piece head - but it's not.

I'd take a blade along (keep it in the wrapper) and ask them if you can load the blade to check the blade gaps, or buy a 5 pack from them and see if they'll let you test load one.
